However, the correct ways to know whether you are too fat , to slim or not is by looking at your weight and height. Nowadays, there is a tool to measure your weight, it is called BMI (Body Mass Index).What is a healthy BMI? BMI can be counted by dividing the weight and the height. Basically, counting BMI for children is easy. First thing to do is count children’s weight and height. After that, divide the weight and height, and make it into a percentile. Then, you can read the category of weight. There are 4 weight status categories, they are children who are underweight, children who are normal, children who are overweight, and children who are obese. The best category is the children who are normal. If you find the children who are underweight, overweight, or obese, those children need special health treatment.

  1. BMI for Adult

Actually, the BMI counting process for adults is same like children. Adults should check they weight and height. After that the weight and the height are divided, and make it into percentile.  Then, you can look at the categories, whether they are underweight, normal, overweight, or obese.

 

Advantages of BMI

If you want to check your BMI, you do not need to buy expensive tools. You just need to check your height and weight, then divide them and make the result into percentile. Later, you will now whether your weight is normal or not.

Why does BMI help to save your life? By identifying your BMI, you can know whether you have normal weight or underweight, overweight, and obese. Soon after you know that your weight is not normal, you can go to the doctor immediately and check your health.

 

Disadvantages of BMI

  1. BMI makes people underestimate their body

When people know if they are overweight, they tend to blame themselves. Furthermore, for healthy people who uses BMI and finds that they are underweight, they may underestimate themselves.

  1. BMI cannot give exact information about your fat

BMI only gives you information whether you are underweight, normal, overweight, or obese. BMI cannot give you information about what kind of fat that you have, whether it is good fat, which is very useful for your body of bad fat (cholesterol), which is harmful for your body.

In conclusion, understanding what is a healthy BMI is very important. You can know whether your weight is normal or not. If you are underweight, overweight, or obese, you can go to the doctor and do a medical check up. Essentially, how to count children’s BMI and adult’s BMI are same, by dividing the weight and height.
